KD7WLX asked the VEs to make a report at each meeting. There could be a different mailbox for the VE communications. Because of the bylaws stating that the secretary is responsible for communications, the secretary will have a key to the PO Box. The bylaws are currently undergoing revisions. KD7WLX also asked the VEs to make suggestions about how to lower the amount of funds in the VE account.
There will be more research into the W5YI and ARRL VE requirements.
W7LR moved to combine the GHRC account with the VE account. It was seconded by AC7RY. The motion did not pass.
Committee Reports:
ERA W7LR is looking into insurance for the ERA equipment. The ERA Board will decide how to proceed with insurance.
SAR N7FLT reported that there were no “ call outs” in the last month.
88Net K7CUB reported that there is a net control for each week of the month. Encouragement was offered for people to check into the net.
CJMS K7CUB reported that the kids and control operators enjoyed a pizza party after the School Club Roundup contest. N7FLT and N7ODN have an electronic kit project in progress for the students. There is a great group this year and they are enjoying the kit project.
HF W7LR worked the North Cook Island on 160 meters.
Hamfest KI7XF reported that the hamfest will be August 25 at the National Guard Armory in Belgrade. The old flyer has been removed from the Web Site and a new one is needed for this year. KI7XF had no idea what the expenses will be.
Fox Hunt KI7XF reported that there would be no fox hunt this weekend because of the weather. There may be a hunt next weekend.
VE testing KI7XF reported that the next regular testing session will be in June. There will also be a testing session at Field Day. It is possible that there will be a testing session at MSU this month. AB7AB posted the results of the last testing session on the Yahoo Group.
Old Business
The Bylaws committee is working diligently with emails going fast and furiously. They hope to have revised bylaws for the club to vote on at the May or June meeting.
The concept of voting members is vague in the current bylaws. That will be addressed by the committee. The current assumption is that voting members are dues paying members. KI7XF made a motion to leave it the way it is. It was seconded by AC7RY. The motion passed.
KF7LVE made a motion to donate $500 to MRLA. It was seconded by AI4RO. The motion was passed.
AE7PJ offered Field Day support from the Civil Air Patrol. There is a large shade shelter available. This could also house a station for more involvement. There is also a communication van available as well as some cooking equipment.
KF7LVE made a motion to adjourn the meeting. AA8Y seconded the motion, and it passed.
AI4RO gave some information on an SWR kit that he passed around. There was also discussion of further kit building.
