The February Meeting will be held at the Sacajawea Middle School.
The meeting starts at 7 PM.
Don Wilson KC7EWZ will give a presentation on GPS and land navigation: an introduction to UTM grid coordinates. Bring your GPS and questions you have about how to use them a group discussion will be part of the presentation.
Jim Hall, AA8Y
The January business meeting was short so we could have a business
meeting by the Eagle-head Repeater Association. The presentation was given by
Don KI7OJ and the treasurers report by Bob W7LR.
The excellent presentation by Harley KI7XF on his and Karla’s trip to China to attend the ARDF World Championships was very inter-esting. This month’s by Don KC7EWZ sounds like a good topic particularly for all of us involved in search and rescue and just plain getting out and not getting lost.
We still need people to take net control for the Tuesday Evening net on 88.
Meeting MinutesMinutes of January 4, 2001 Meeting – submitted by KD7FVR, Ron Schimpf
The January meeting was held at Sacajawea Middle School. President Jim AA8Y called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 21 members were in attendance.
Minutes of the December 2000 meeting were approved as printed in the newsletter.
Harley KI7XF reported that the club went in the hole by $10.43 on the Christmas Party. The Valley View added 15% gratuity to the check even though a number of members left their tip on the table. Insurance of $215.00 is coming up due soon. The club balance is $1390.00. Treasurer’s report was accepted by unanimous vote.
Jack N7ODN handed out fliers announcing the Technician Class that will be held in February prior to the March VE session. He asked for suggestions to publicize the class.
Don KI7OJ was re-elected as the GHRC representative for the Eaglehead Repeater Association.
The business meeting was kept to a minimum to allow time for the program and Eaglehead Repeater Meeting. The business meeting adjourned at 7:20 PM.
Harley KI7FX presented a fascinating narrative of his trip to the ARDF (Amateur Radio Direction Finding) World Championship in Nanjing China. He discussed the 2m and 80m events with maps and visual aids. Harley also passed around his photo albums of the contests and his subsequent tour of China.

If you’ve not signed up as a net control operator yet, please do so! As members of the GHRC, each of us should take a half an hour each month to run the net. This is a very small sacrifice of time which greatly enhances the quality of our net and club.
If you’ve never run the net before, contact KC7EWZ, Don for info on running the net. It’s really easy! Running the net is a great experience which will help prepare you for participating in emergency communications.
The net is every Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM on 146.88.
TECHNICIAN CLASS COURSE
The Gallatin Ham Radio Club will be sponsoring a short course for preparation to take the Technician Class exam during the March 3, 2001 VE Exam session. Spread the word and have any interested parties contact Jack Myers, N7ODN at 587-3511 or email@example.com .
