K9 Cert West Yellowstone:

Don KC7EWZ read a note of thanks from Wyoming K9 participants from the K9 Cert Weekend at West Yellowstone


Bob W7lr reported on the ERA meeting. They agreed to meet next in September.


VE Exams: AD7RB There is an exam Saturday morning 6/5 at 9 am in SAR conf room.


SAR: Don N7FLT – It has been quiet. Some of our local CAP pilots assisted in locating a crashed aircraft west of Helena. They used a Becker in their locating.

School Club N7FLT – The program is wrapped up for fall.


146.88 NET: K7CUB: There is still a need for another host. Contact Vivian K7CUB if you can help.


Fox hunting: Tom reported on the World Wide foxhunting weekend. There was a good hunt with three transmitters and picnic afterwards.


KI7XF ARDF Championship for North and South America took place in Ohio. There was a good turnout. The weather was challenging and there was lots of dense brush. Harley took 2nd place in the 2 m event and 3rd place in the 80 m event. Congratulations Harley!


K9 certification in West Yellowstone. A report by KC7EWZ. This is a Public service event supported by the SARHAM group and working with western search dogs a member of the local Gallatin County SAR teams. The hams set up the W7ED trailer with remote antennas, generator power, interior heating, and several computers for downloading and uploading GPSR. The SARHAMs also helped in the electronic topo mapping and communication to and from the field. They aided communication between the field and IC.


OLD Business


Lewis and Clark marathon: Jerry KD7WLX.

Jerry shared who was working and some of the details of the deployment.

The frequencies will be 146.88- and 447.95.

Jerry has sent out complete details on the club reflector.


Field day site: discussion:

To move to the Gallatin Gateway area vs Dale’s place. Tom moved to move. Motion carried. Bruce would like to know how many people are planning to camp out at Field day so the grounds can be prepared.

Harley will set up an ARDF style foxhunt if the area permits.

The group should plan for potluck on Sat evening.

N7FLT will coordinate the HF station. It looks like the club will operate 1A this year.

There was a discussion about the condition of the tower trailer to be able to move it to the new site. Jerry expressed the opinion that the club should take this opportunity to make the tower trailer able to be moved for various events.

Tom moved that the field day site be moved to the Gallatin Gateway location. It was seconded and passed.


Sat Breakfast: Dave: breakfast Perkins SAT. 7:30 before the testing session.

The Bridger Ridge Run N7ZHN -Kay Newman is the ham contact for this event. It will be held 8/14. Contact Kay for help on this.
